A fifty three-yr-previous lady died after she was pulled out of a smoky home hearth within the Leimert Park space of South Los Angeles, authorities stated Monday.
The hearth was reported at 10:forty one p.m. Sunday at 3730 South Edgehill Dr., stated Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Hearth Division.
There was mild smoke displaying from the only household house when firefighters arrived, Stewart stated, and, “upon getting into the construction, they discovered a fireplace out, with heavy, chilly smoke in the home.”
The hearth had burned an overstuffed sofa, she stated. The lady who resided in the home was taken to a hospital, the place she was pronounced lifeless, Stewart stated.
The home had smoke alarms however it isn’t recognized in the event that they have been functioning, she stated.
The incident was beneath investigation by the LAFD Arson and Counter Terrorism Part, Stewart stated.
