ALBANY – The previous Kosciuszko Bridge between Queens and Brooklyn was imploded Sunday morning after the primary span of the brand new bridge opened in April.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo and native leaders set off the demolition at a ceremony, saying the previous bridge was seventy eight years previous and wanted to get replaced.

“It is a bottleneck, it was by no means designed for this quantity, and we opened the brand new first span already and now we will construct the second span so we’ll double the variety of lanes,” Cuomo stated Sunday on WABC tv.

The “energetic felling,” because it was technically referred to as, included 900 fees as the 2 sides of the bridge got here down.
