A person was arrested on suspicion of DUI after driving a borrowed U-Haul truck at excessive speeds in a reckless chase with deputies by means of Palmdale, authorities reported Monday.
The chase ended solely after two tires within the U-Haul car have been flattened by a spike strip.
The entire thing started when deputies initiated a pursuit of the car at 10:05 p.m. Sunday at Avenue R-eight and fortieth Road East. The truck was noticed rushing on the mistaken aspect of the street and blowing via purple lights, stated Lt. Ron Shaffer of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.
Deputies broke off the pursuit after a few mile for security causes as a result of the driving force was being erratic in his effort to evade them, Shaffer stated. A sheriff’s helicopter tracked the U-Haul till it was pushed over a spike strip at twenty fifth Road East and Avenue Q and the suspect obtained out and gave up.
He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and was being booked on the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station, the lieutenant stated.
It appeared a pal of the suspect’s had rented the U-Haul truck and allowed the suspect to drive it, Shaffer stated.
