Tucson police release names of 3 accused of assaulting officers at protest

Tucson police launched the names Friday of three individuals arrested on suspicion of felonies at a downtown protest over federal immigration insurance policies.

The three face felony fees of aggravated assault on a peace officer, stated Sgt. Pete Dugan, a police spokesman. They’re David Leon, 24; Joan Cichon, sixty eight; and Tanya Alvarez-Blancarte. forty two.

A fourth suspect faces misdemeanor expenses of obstructing and failure to determine.

The protest Thursday night escalated into clashes between demonstrators and protesters. Three officers sustained minor accidents; nobody was taken to a hospital, Dugan stated.

One officer was hit within the face and one other within the again, Dugan stated. He wasn’t positive how the third was injured.
