Pico Rivera man gets 20-year-to-life term for stabbing death of AAA driver

A person who fatally stabbed a tow truck driver who was serving to the defendant’s mom in Pico Rivera was sentenced Tuesday to twenty years to life in state jail.

Tobias Ruben Cabrera, forty one, pleaded no contest Dec. 6 to second-diploma homicide for the June 2, 2015, killing of Raymond Zabala, who was attacked within the 8400 block of Buhman Avenue after changing the battery on the lady’s automotive.

Cabrera additionally admitted that he had a previous conviction, from 2001, for corporal damage with nice bodily damage to a partner/cohabitant/youngster’s mum or dad.

Cabrera walked as much as the 35-yr-previous AAA driver and requested what was happening earlier than attacking him, then rode away on a motorcycle after the stabbing, in response to authorities.

Authorities haven’t decided a motive for the assault.

Zabala went to a neighboring house to hunt assist, however died close to the crime scene. Cabrera was arrested three days later.
