A North Naples lady was arrested Wednesday after airport safety at Southwest Florida Worldwide Airport discovered her deceased husband’s gun in her bag throughout a baggage screening.
Jannine Wagner, fifty five, faces a felony cost of carrying a hid weapon (unlicensed firearm), based on a Lee County Port Authority Police Division arrest report.
She was booked on the Lee County Jail and launched early Thursday after posting the $5,000 bond, on-line arrest data state.
Officers responded to the screening space on the D concourse at RSW round 10:20 a.m., the place they discovered “what seemed to be a firearm on the X-ray machine” at one of many screening lanes, the arrest report states.

When officers asked who the bag belonged to, Wagner told them it was hers, according to the report. Officers then took her to the private screening area and asked her if she was aware of what was in the bag.
“She stated that it was her deceased husband’s bag but her daughter packed the bag,” the report states.
Wagner told officers her husband had a concealed weapons permit and had firearms, so “she is assuming that was what is in the bag,” according to the report.
When officers searched the bag they found a loaded Springfield XD 9 mm 3.3 pistol in the side pocket, the report states. The gun had no round chambered.
