A Mount Vernon man, who was accused of making an attempt to kill a police officer final fall, has been convicted on all fees, the district lawyer’s workplace confirmed Wednesday night time.

Sanchez was part of increased patrols of local car dealerships throughout the county after police had been receiving several reports of tire, rim and other car parts thefts overnight.

Sanchez inspected the Arroway Chevrolet-Cadillac dealership on North Bedford Road when he saw a green Honda Odyssey van that was reported stolen. When he tried to stop the van, Greenland, who was driving, sped off, police have said in previous interviews. 

Greenland stopped on Knowlton Avenue, left the van and ran off, police have said. Sanchez chased him through backyards and caught up to him on Dickson Lane in Bedford, where the two fought. 

After Greenland’s arrest, the police discovered a car jack and cinder blocks beneath a pickup truck on the Arroway property. They said they also learned the minivan he was driving had been stolen from Scarsdale in September.

Police said Greenland has twice been deported to his native Jamaica and has a lengthy criminal record. He goes by different names, sometimes Clare Greenland, police said.
