Man detained at east side bank after claiming to have explosives

Tucson cops detained a person at an east aspect financial institution Friday morning, after he claimed to have explosives within the automotive and refused to exit the car, authorities stated.

Shortly earlier than 10 a.m., a person entered the Hughes Federal Credit score Union within the space of East Broadway Boulevard and North Pantano Street, and talked about to individuals within the financial institution that he had explosives in his automotive, stated Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Division spokesman.

There was no indication that the person was trying to rob the financial institution or that he made threats to anybody, Dugan stated.

The person exited the financial institution and went out to his automotive, at which level staff referred to as the police and self-evacuated the financial institution and cleared the parking zone of any bystanders, Dugan stated.
