How family DNA helped solve 1976 killing of ex-wife of ‘Righteous Brothers’ fame

Particulars about how familial DNA was used to unravel the 1976 killing of Karen Klaas, the ex-spouse of singer/songwriter Invoice Medley of “The Righteous Brothers” fame, will probably be launched Monday by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Division.

The 32-yr-previous Klaas, who had remarried, dropped off her four-yr-previous youngster by her new husband at day care on Jan. 30, 1976, and went to her Hermosa Seashore residence, based on the sheriff’s division.

Neighbors — involved once they couldn’t contact her — referred to as police. She had been strangled, crushed and raped, authorities stated. She died a number of days later.

A person was seen leaving her residence across the time of the crime, however her killer was not discovered. Her husband was dominated out as a suspect, authorities stated.
