GENEVA, Sick. (AP) – A Texas man has been sentenced to forty five years in jail in Illinois for killing his grandmother for an inheritance.

Wealthy A. Schmelzer was convicted in December within the slaying of eighty five-yr-previous Mildred Darrington of suburban Chicago. He was sentenced Thursday by Kane County Decide Linda Abrahamson.

Prosecutors say Schmelzer traveled from Frisco, Texas, to arrange an elaborate collection of alibis earlier than killing the lady in 2014.
Throughout his trial, prosecutors stated Schmelzer turned deeply in debt by having a lavish way of life.

Prosecutors say as co-executor of Darrington’s property and a beneficiary of her belief, Schmelzer began to switch cash from her bank cards. When he discovered he stood to inherit about half of an $800,000 property, he plotted to return to the Chicago space to kill her.
