A lady was arrested on suspicion of embezzling about $50,000 from each an Episcopal church and a Jewish temple in Hermosa Seashore that had employed her as an workplace administrator since 2008, police have introduced.

Celina Maldonado, 36, of Los Angeles, was out on bail Wednesday after being arrested Monday, in line with Hermosa Seashore police Sgt. Mick Gaglia.

The employees at Temple Shalom, which rents area from St. Cross Episcopal Church at 1818 Monterey Blvd., reported a number of weeks in the past that a number of checks have been lacking, Gaglia stated.

“Detectives, together with financial institution investigators, decided Maldonado had been depositing checks from the temple and St. Cross Church into her private checking account,” the sergeant alleged. “The checks have been payable to the temple and church and totaled roughly $50,000.”

Anybody with further details about the case was urged to contact Hermosa Seashore police Detective Dean Garkow at (310) 318-0348 or dgarkow@hermosapolice.org.
