Dylann Roof sentenced to die for Charleston church killings

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – A federal jury has sentenced Dylann Roof to demise for killing 9 black church members in a racially motivated assault in 2015.

Roof, who’s white, confronted both life in jail or execution for the slayings on June 17, 2015. The Justice Division says he’s the primary individual to get the dying penalty for federal hate crimes.

The jury reached a choice after about three hours of deliberations.

Roof was convicted final month of all 33 federal fees towards him. Throughout sentencing, he represented himself and informed jurors he didn’t have a psychological sickness. However he didn’t supply any regret or ask that his life be spared.

Roof advised FBI brokers he needed to deliver again segregation or maybe begin a race struggle with the slayings.
