Joel Thompson, 22, is accused of killing Madysen Denman, 16.

YONKERS – A Yonkers man has been charged with first-degree manslaughter for allegedly driving onto a sidewalk and killing a Yonkers teenager with his car on Wednesday morning.

Yonkers police said Joel Thompson, 22, got into a dispute outside the apartment building at 354 Nepperhan Ave. and drove his car into Madysen Denman, 16, who died at the scene.

Thompson was arrested and is expected to be arraigned today in Yonkers City Court on the felony charge.

FATAL: Yonkers pedestrian hit, killed by car

Denman was hit around 9:40 a.m. near the corner of Ashburton Avenue. Thompson fled the scene in his blue 2006 Toyota Corolla, police said, but officers stopped him a few minutes later on Saw Mill River Road. He was taken into custody and his car was impounded.

Police have not said whether Denman was involved in the dispute with Thompson or if she was the intended target.
