Huntington Seashore police shot a canine to dying after it attacked them as they tried to detain a person accused of vandalism.
Police have been referred to as to the 16000 block of 14th Road in Sundown Seashore at eleven:22 p.m. Sunday on calls that a man was “hitting automobiles and throwing issues round,” in response to Huntington Seashore police Officer Jennifer Marlatt.
Police tried to query the person, however he refused to cooperate, and as he was being arrested, his canine bit one of many officers, Marlatt stated.
“The canine continued to be aggressive and one officer tried to tase the canine, which was unsuccessful,” Marlatt stated.
When the canine continued to “go after the officers,” certainly one of them opened hearth and fatally wounded the animal, she stated.
The officer who sustained the canine chew was handled and launched from an space hospital, Marlatt stated.
The suspect, whose identify was not instantly launched, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a lethal weapon, she stated.
