Investigators believe a death on a Marco Island bridge Wednesday morning was an apparent suicide.

Details such as the age and gender of the victim were unavailable.

Motorists along Collier Boulevard heading for Marco instead found yellow crime-scene tape shortly before 7 a.m.. They also learned that southbound lanes of the S.S. Jolley Bridge that leads onto Marco Island were closed.

The call came in as  “distressed person” that later became a death investigation, said Kristi Lester, a Collier County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

Witness described a black, four-door sedan Wednesday, with yellow crime scene tape cordoning off the vehicle as it was stopped on the bridge.  A Sheriff’s Office CSI (crime scene investigation) van was parked nearby, a witness told the Daily News.
