A Los Angeles man suspected of robbing banks and credit score unions in Idaho and Utah was in custody Monday following his arrest whereas making an attempt to board a flight to Europe.
Josue Daniel Alfaro, who had been dubbed “The Nice Outside Bandit” due to the type of his apparel, was arrested Sunday at Los Angeles Worldwide Airport whereas trying to board a reduction Wow Airways flight to Brussels, Belgium, in accordance with the U.S. Lawyer’s Workplace in Idaho.
Alfaro had been charged on Friday in a felony grievance in Idaho and a warrant was issued for his arrest, authorities stated.
He’s suspected of robbing a financial institution and a credit score union in Boise, Idaho, on Dec. 21; a financial institution in Boise on March 24; a credit score union in Orem, Utah, on Might 24; and a financial institution in Boise and two credit score unions in Meridian, Idaho on Aug. 7, based on federal prosecutors.
Investigators say an individual matching Alfaro’s description went into the Idaho Unbiased Financial institution in Mountain Residence, Idaho on Aug. 7 and requested to trade $1,500 in $one hundred payments for $50 payments. Financial institution personnel refused the request and offered regulation enforcement with pictures of the person and the black Mitsubishi Outlander he was driving.
“A car showing to be a black Mitsubishi Outlander was additionally photographed through the Aug. 7, 2017, theft of the Pioneer Federal Credit score Union in Meridian,” in accordance with the U.S. Lawyer’s Workplace.
On Aug. 9, the FBI launched surveillance photographs from the financial institution in Mountain House, prompting two individuals — an acquaintance and Alfaro’s brother — to determine him because the individual depicted, officers stated.
An affidavit states that “Alfaro’s brother suggested regulation enforcement that, on Aug. 5, 2017, Mr. Alfaro and his sister drove in a rental automotive from their residence in Los Angeles … to the household’s residence in Utah.”
“On the morning of Aug. 7, 2017, Mr. Alfaro borrowed his mom’s black Mitsubishi Outlander, left the residence in Utah, and didn’t return till two days later,” officers stated, citing the affidavit. “On the morning of Aug. 10, 2017, Mr. Alfaro argued together with his sisters and appeared to have cried. Mr. Alfaro’s brother discovered that the argument was initiated when Mr. Alfaro’s sisters confronted Mr. Alfaro concerning the financial institution surveillance pictures within the media. Mr. Alfaro drove again to California within the rental automotive.”
Alfaro appeared Monday in federal courtroom in Los Angeles and was remanded to federal custody pending switch to Idaho, based on the U.S. Lawyer’s Workplace.
