1,300 Pounds Of Marijuana From Mexico Seized In South Texas


DEL RIO (CBSDFW) – U.S Customs officers seized 1,300 of marijuana coming from Mexico, via Texas, and headed for St. Louis on the Del Rio Port of Entry.

 U.S. Customs and Border Safety officers introduced Monday that a 1,300 pound stash of marijuana was discovered final week hidden inside a business trailer sure for St. Louis, Missouri.

Official say the contraband was detected by drug canine and non-intrusive imaging gear inside a cargo of silica sand because it arrived from Mexico.

“Smugglers go to nice lengths to get their illicit merchandise into the U.S.,” stated Port Director Alberto D. Perez, Del Rio Port of Entry. “The coaching, expertise and dedication of our frontline CBP officers has prevented yet one more load of contraband from reaching our communities.”
