CORPUS CHRISTI (AP) — Federal prosecutors say 10 individuals affiliated with a Texas-based mostly Latino jail gang have been arrested in a coordinated collection of roundups within the Corpus Christi, Houston and San Antonio areas.
The Justice Division says the arrests are a part of a 3-yr investigation of drug trafficking involving members of the Hermandad de Pistoleros Latinos — or HPL gang.
4 are charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and two with conspiracy to distribute heroin.
Three others are charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine distribution and possession to distribute the drug. Apart from the drug cost, the tenth individual arrested additionally faces weapons fees.
Penalties if convicted on the fees differ from 10 years to life in jail.
