A motorist was in custody Wednesday and one other was being sought in reference to a crash in Torrance that left a sixteen-yr-previous boy lifeless and a person critically injured.
The crash occurred about 10 p.m. Tuesday at Crenshaw Boulevard and Crest Street, the Torrance Police Division reported.
The teenager, who died at a hospital, was driving in a 2000 Toyota Sienna van when two different automobiles ran a purple mild and crashed into it, police stated. His identify was withheld, pending notification of his kin. The forty seven-yr-previous man driving the van was hospitalized in critical situation.
In response to police, a silver 2004 Audi A6, and a black 2014 Mercedes- Benz GLK350 have been each going northbound on Crenshaw Boulevard once they ran a purple mild and crashed into the van, which was turning left from southbound Crenshaw Boulevard to eastbound Crest Street.
“The preliminary investigations point out the driving force of the Audi was concerned in minor collision in Rancho Palos Verdes with the Mercedes-Benz and fled the scene … and the driving force of the Mercedes Benz GLK350 was following the Audi when each automobiles ran the purple sign for northbound Crenshaw Boulevard at Crest Street and each collided with the Toyota Sienna van,” a police assertion stated.
“After the collision, the Audi fled northbound on Crenshaw and the driving force of the Mercedes GLK350 stayed on the scene,” police stated. “The Audi was situated a short while later close to the scene unoccupied.”
The driving force of the Mercedes, a 21-yr previous Rancho Palos Verdes man, was handled for an unspecified damage at a hospital and was arrested by Torrance police on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter. His identify was not instantly launched.
